Attention Sheffielders and festival-goers! As the vibrant Tramlines Festival approaches, the UK government has introduced temporary regulations to ensure everyone's safety. From July 25th to July 27th, 2025, flying unmanned aircraft (drones) over parts of Sheffield will be strictly prohibited. Here's what you need to know:

What's Happening?

  • Event: Tramlines Festival 2025
  • Dates: July 25th to July 27th, 2025
  • Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire

The New Flying Rules

  • No Drone Zone: A circle with a 0.9 nautical mile radius centered at coordinates 532427N 0013003W.
  • Height Restriction: No drones below 1,100 feet above sea level.
  • Time Frame: From 6:00 AM (UTC) on July 25th to 11:00 PM (UTC) on July 27th. Remember, UTC is one hour behind British Summer Time (BST).

Exceptions

  • Drones operated by Police Air Support Units.
  • Drones with special permission from South Yorkshire Police.

Why the Restrictions?

The regulation aims to protect the public due to the large number of attendees expected at the festival. The measure is a joint effort by the Department for Transport, the Civil Aviation Authority, and South Yorkshire Police for enhanced safety.
