16 April 2025 at 3:03 am (Europe/London)
Attention all aviation enthusiasts and pilots! If you're planning to take to the skies over Ascot this June, you'll need to be aware of new flying restrictions. The UK government has issued a temporary regulation to ensure public safety during the prestigious Royal Ascot 2025 horse racing event.
Key Details:
- Regulation Name: Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Ascot) (No. 2) Regulations 2025
- Effective Dates: From 17th June to 21st June 2025.
- Flying Restrictions: No aircraft is allowed to fly below 2,000 feet above mean sea level within a 2-nautical-mile radius centered at coordinates 512515N 0003934W, covering the Ascot Racecourse area.
- Restricted Hours: Daily from 0900 to 1900 UTC (Remember, UTC is one hour behind British Summer Time).
Who Can Fly?
The restriction does not apply to aircraft with special permission from:
- The air traffic control unit at Ascot Heliport, or
- London Terminal Control Centre, Swanwick.
Why the Restrictions?
The Secretary of State for Transport has deemed these measures necessary due to the large crowds expected at the event. The Civil Aviation Authority and the Department for Transport are prioritizing public safety.
Additional Information:
- Full details and updates will be available through Aeronautical Information Circulars and Notices to Aviation (NOTAM).
- For queries, contact Mr. David Ridley, Airspace Regulator at the Civil Aviation Authority, on 03301 382471.
Make sure to plan your flights accordingly and enjoy the Royal Ascot with safety in mind!
