In a move to facilitate essential roadworks, the Welsh Ministers have issued a new order imposing temporary traffic restrictions on a section of the A40 trunk road in Pembrokeshire. This order, known as the "A40 Trunk Road (Robeston Wathen Roundabout to Pengawse Hill Junction, Pembrokeshire) (Temporary Traffic Prohibitions and Restrictions) 2025", will come into effect on April 26, 2025, and may last up to 18 months.

Key Restrictions:

  1. Vehicle Restrictions:

    • During the works period, only exempt vehicles (such as emergency services vehicles) will be allowed on certain sections of the A40.
    • Temporary speed limits of 50, 40, and 30 mph will be enforced on designated parts of the road.
  2. Cyclists and Pedestrians:

    • Cyclists and pedestrians will not be allowed on specific sections of the A40 during the works period.
  3. Speed Limits:

    • A special 10 mph speed limit will be enforced on a particular stretch of the A40, with overtaking prohibited during these times.
  4. Turning Restrictions:

    • There will be prohibitions on turning right or left onto B4313 Redstone Road from the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the A40, respectively.

Who is Affected?

These restrictions apply to all road users except exempt vehicles. The restrictions are designed to ensure the safety of workers and road users while allowing the necessary roadworks to proceed efficiently.

Enforcement and Compliance:

The restrictions will only be active when indicated by traffic signs. Compliance will be monitored by police officers, community support officers, and civil enforcement officers. Failure to adhere to these restrictions could result in penalties.

For anyone planning to travel along this particular section of the A40, it's essential to stay informed about the specific restrictions and to follow the posted traffic signs and instructions from enforcement officers. These measures are in place to ensure safety and minimize disruptions during the road improvement works.
